“Shkolla Perla” is a well established private school in Vlore with a good reputation for its teaching philosophy. The owners asked TP&D to prepare a concept design and feasibility study for the development of a summer camp for their students on a self owned 2ha land in the coast of Narta in close distance from Zvernec Village and within walking-cycling distance from the beach and the ecologically sensitive area of the lagoon of Narta.

The location in close proximity to Vlore city, is clearly separated from it by the interference of the Soda coastal pine forest. The land needs careful management as it is partly covered by irrigation channels from the period of Communism. In order to deal with this delicate landscape TP & D formed an interdisciplinary team of planner, architect, environmentalist and engineers that investigated different scenarios for managing the site and operational facilities.

The masterplan proposed accommodation in wooden cabins located beneath the trees in the forested part of the property with common facilities organized in the bare front area. Special attention was paid to the concept of internal circulation and the development of program of activities which includes sport fields, animal zoo, mini golf, and adventure park all located within a natural setting with minimal sealed surfaces.
