Recent (post 1990) urban development in Albania, as in Greece, has been piecemeal and centred around the construction of individual building structures. This rather short-sighted focus on individual interest has been one of the main reasons for the poor quality of the urban environment. In most cities therefore there is tremendous work to be done in putting the pieces back together and reinstating urbanity.
During the Rama administration Albania has experienced an urban renaissance with tremendous work, pioneering in all Balkans and South-east Europe in promoting a new civic culture focusing on the requalification of urban public spaces and recreating coherence that has culminated with the winning of the prize for the best European public space in 2018.
TP & D has been privileged to form part of this wonderful journey by undertaking direct responsibility for important public but also private projects. The underlying principle in all our design proposals lies in a strong focus on the integration of the object with its surroundings in generating added value in its setting and a strong landscape-oriented design focus. Our work is distinguished in the following aspects:
Requalification of coastal areas and marine works (Vlore Riviera)
Design of outdoor and public spaces (landscaping)
Sustainable mobility interventions
Detailed design of hotels, residential and tourism related facilities
