The project methodology involved formulation of the SEA objectives based on the analysis of the main environmental considerations that the city is facing, formulation and evaluation of alternative development scenarios breakdown of the plan into components and detailed evaluation of each component with regard to coherence with declared objectives accompanied with suggestions for mitigation measures and monitoring of implementation.
The main issues addressed by the SEA touched upon the plan proposals for strengthening the role of the city as regional centre with improved transport infrastructure and connectivity.
Integration of productive activities in combination with measures to preserve and enhance the city’s cohesive urban structure and the urban environment, such as the reforestation of the hills, creation of network of green spaces and rehabilitation of the city’s contaminated landfill.
The project was successfully completed with plan and SEA approved in March 2014
