2.3.4 Preparation of a Schematic Proposal for Remodelling of Rradhime Coastline

This project is undertaken in August 2017, with the Albanian Development Fund (ADF) as the contracting authority. The main objective was to identify areas of national importance on the Southern Coast of Albania and to coordinate local and national interests for these areas through providing guidelines for their development and defining the scope for public investment. The project has four components: i] to provide regulations and planning guidelines ii] to identify and describe priority public investments iii] to prepare design references for national areas iv] to prepare a schematic proposal for requalification of Rradhim coastline.

The scope of this project component involves the preparation of a schematic proposal for the remodelling of the coastline of Rradhime in Vlore Municipality over a distance of 11km between Tunel of Ujet Ftohte and Marina of Orikum with aim to: 1) partial redirecting of coastal road through small bypasses 2) reconcepting of the existing road as a zone with landscaped paths, continuous public waterfront and cycling route; 3) adjustment of area zoning.

The proposal was based on survey and investigations from land and sea from a team of experts that took place in August 2017. The document has taken into account the draft final output of the Local Plans that has been prepared in the framework of the project:“ Drafting General Local Plans for the municipalities of: Vlore, Himare, Sarande, Konispol”, in implementation of the Terms of Reference for “Consulting services, for drafting general local plans, for 26 municipalities, in Albania (Lot 6)”.
